I am a wife, a mother, a daughter, a sister…

About me:

I am a wife and mother, a writer and author, a former agent, an enthusiast and passionate person about life and everything I put my mind to. My family is the utmost important thing in my life and also my inspiration for everything I do. My husband is my soul mate and we have been married going on 15 yrs. He is also my teacher in so many ways… and my best friend. My kids are the reason my heart beats with joy and love everyday. They are what makes me laugh and makes me cry but they are also what helps me to see the world a little differently everyday. I’m old fashioned when it comes to life and books especially,  there’s nothing like the real book.  I thrive on being unpredictable.

Thus far in life I have a few books published and doing fairly well, I write for Yahoo and the Examiner, so feel free to subscribe to my pages and keep up with my meanderings. I also still writer for magazines off and on, so when I have written something I will be sure to share it. I’m working on writing, directing and casting a few movies, which I’m super excited about and looking forward to sharing more information when I can. I host a teen writers club for teenagers who love to write, just as i did then, and want to take their writing to the next level. I read to kids at my childrens school and I am also room mommy in their classes, phew it keeps me busy. I still volunteer for various charitable organizations and love working at my local Christian radio station whenever they need help. I did host my own radio show for awhile, but I got way too busy for it, so I’m taking a break from that. I help out at church, I plan events, I host writers workshops to teach other aspiring writers about how to write and be passionate about it. My calendar seems to have something on it everyday!!!! And the days I’m not doing anything, trust me, I spend them in bed with a good book doing nothing… well except cleaning house, but i do take my days off very seriously :) If I didn’t keep my iPhone next to me at all times, i’d get lost cause it’s the only thing that helps me to stay organized… Siri, remember to send a card to my aunt for me for her birthday. I also have to keep a notebook and a physical calendar/day planner book with me too. Yes I live a busy busy life at times, but I LOVE IT!

PS, I’m bad, horrible at answering emails, comments, tweets, etc… immediately, but i will answer them I promise!

    • You have a pretty great blog yourself. I enjoy variety and not just one type of blog, so I follow people who inspire, make me laugh, make me think and have something meaningful to say. Your blog is really great!

  1. Sounds like an exciting life so far!
Great that you both have OCD in neatness ; ) I think my husband does somewhat – and its hard sometimes not having the same tendencies – but having lived with him for ‘a while’ I am getting better at being tidier!

    • Oh gosh thank you! It seems I’ve always got something going on. But I enjoy it all. As for the OCD… my hubby is FAR worse then I could ever think of being, but I’m glad he is. It will get better for you :) It pays to have an opposite in your life, they compliment us :D

  2. Vina, glad to meet you! This was fun to read. I especially like your remarks about your children and husband. And also, about your getting back to writing. Please do this, as you can! Not OCD style, just for joy.

    • Thanks so much for visiting, commenting and sharing your links. I will be sure to check them out and leave feedback.

  3. Hi Vina! You seem to have an interesting story, and I’m looking forward to reading more of your writing and more about you. Thanks for following my blog “Word Play – A Place For Pleasurable Procrastination” and have a great day! :-)

  4. thank you very much for showing an interest in my blog – I hope Willow the Vampire and my humble self can keep you entertained! Thank you also for sharing so may aspects of your life with all of us – how refreshingly honest and…well brave! Like you I did not write for many years because my job in the publishing industry had been so demanding that the last thing I wished to do was more writing at the end of a long, long day…it wasn’t until I left the industry and did something completely different – also moving to Wales, UK – when I rekindled my love and passion for writing. So we have that at least in common. I look forward to following your blog.

    • Thank you for sharing your little..well big… Vampire with all of us, seems pretty awesome to me :D
Also thank you for your kind words and comment. Its cool to have something in common with another person, gives us something to talk about, hehe. Hope to keep in touch with each other and read more about your Vampire.

  5. Thank you so much for visiting – and Welcome to joining my world through following me.
Really like all “about” you and I see that you love writing like me. Looking forward to having you around. *smile Viveka

    • Viveka, thank you for following back and its great to have a common interest. Can’t wait to read more about you as well.

  6. Thanks for subscribing to my blog! After reading about you, I feel I can safely say that you won’t be disappointed. We seem to be kindred spirits! I have a lot to learn about writing for an audience and being a published writer. Every contact I make helps, I figure, but I am most used to “being a loner” and writing for myself. Any tips, suggestions and comments you toss my well will undoubtedly be helpful and sure be welcomed!

    • Kindred spirits huh? Possibly… Might be why I like your blog so much! Writing is always a learning experience… At least it has been for me. But ask any writer…and they will tell you the same, writing always reveals a new chapter to be learned. Stay in touch and look forward to talking more and reading more of your blog.

  7. Hi Vina thanks for your honest and informitive focus on yourself, I feel I know you and I can identify with some of the things you shared especially the grey hair, perhaps you have a lot of life wisdom under it even at 30.

Thanks for sharing on my Blog and I look forward to sharing with you again .

    Christian Love Anne.

  8. Thank you so much for following my blog. :) I came to say hello…so glad I did! You’ve shared an amazing story…sometimes I envy people who have insomnia…you have so many more hours in the day to get things done. :) Seriously though, I so appreciate your diffiicult journey and how you have made a commitment to WRITE! That happened to me also…and the ideas that were waiting in the wings are now bubbling over onto the paper…and it is so much fun!!!
Nice to connect…I’ll follow you back. :)

    • So thankful by your comment, although don’t envy the insomnia, lol… It is a curse sometimes. Look forward to reading more of your work and keeping in touch.

  9. Thank you! Willow (the real one) is getting old enough to read the stories she inspired and I know she’ll be thrilled to find people are taking an interest in her fictional persona – as indeed am I. Thank you also for mentioning me on Twitter, very kind. Now that I’ve finally been able to make some time for WordPress – reading and writing – I’m astonished and pleasantly surprised how high the standard of most blogs is and how much useful advice there is for writers and readers. It’s also wonderful to see that people take the trouble to put up great illustrations, photography and such. I’m only truly happy when I write and it’s great to see that this is also true for many other people. Am currently translating a new Willow story into English, so it will soon appear on the Willow site (English is my second language, but this was the first time I wrote for Willow in my native language).
    Best wishes

  11. I led a retreat in which my participants were asked to pick and commit to one thing that would give them joy in the coming week. I asked them to fill out permission slips and sign them or if they felt the need they could ask me, the coach or someone else to sign them for them. Almost everyone needed someone else to give them permission. Since then I laugh at myself often when I find myself choosing to do a should instead of want. Aren’t we silly?

  12. HI Vina,
Sounds like a wonderful life so far. I wish you well in your writing endeavors.

Thanks for stopping by my blog and subscribing. I’m looking forward to seeing your comments!

    • Thank you Huffygirl for your comment and for checking out my blog too. Your blog in iteself is pretty spectacular! Looking forward to keeping in touch with one another.

  13. Loner– Check! Old Soul– Check! Love to Write– Check! I can definitely relate. I can also relate to preffering physical books to digital ones. Holding a good book in your hands and being able to turn the pages and admire the written art, not to mention that the digital versions lack the ability to soften the light that is shed on the pages. In any case I commend your spirit and passions. Be forever blessed

    • LOL… Thanks for this comment. I think at times people hate me because I wont let go of a BOOK! I do love to write… just wish I could find more time to write lately. It comes in spurts and it drives me nuts. Look forward to talking with you more and reading your blog too.

  14. I think I could use a little OCD in neatness. :P Vina, what a beautiful blog – I love the combination of honesty, inspiration and reality. Your writing is delicious.

Yay for another blog sister who loves books as much as me! ♥

  15. Oh, so here’s your site…I had to type you into Google to get here. The personal link ( Website Link) on your Gravatar Profile needs setting up or something. Anyway, bless you.

  16. Hello, Vina. I want to welcome you to diabeticredemption.com. I’m happy you’ve joined us. If you’d like, please find my Friends page and tell me and my readers a little about yourself, your blog, (with URL,) and anything else you’d like us all to know. Sometime in the next few days, I will come over and look at some of your archives — meanwhile, I’m now following, and I can’t wait to start reading what you write. All the very best always! Judith

  17. Hi Vina,

Thank you for leaving your beautiful footprint in my blog! :-)

You have a very nice blog here, with so many friends/followers! Wow!

Can I just ask you how could you attract so many people to follow your blog? I’m new in the blogsphere, and would love to get some great tips from a blog-expert like you.

    Thank you, Vina! :-)

And, once again, have a great weekend to you.. :-)

    Warm regards from pouring Canberra,

    Subhan Zein

    • WOW thanks for calling me a blog expert.. but I’m really not. I just started blogging, lol. I just have learned to network.. thats what its all about. And I’m no expert. I honestly just have been blessed that people find my writing to be something they like to read. But there are so many bigger blogs out there… maybe one day I’ll reach a million views a day, but until then… I just enoy writing :D Keep in touch.

  18. Hi Vina,

Thanks for following my blog. You sound a lot like me – book lover, loner, not much into kindle or nook. I, too, love the feel the pages of a book, hear the rustle of the pages. Books are happiness, comfort for me. And I do panic, if my bedside table is not overflowing with books. I love your style of writing. Thanks again.

  20. I came to say thanks for the follow, and spent an hour reading your wonderful pages. I went many years unable (or unwilling) to find expression in the written word ( I can talk a blue streak) I wrote for years, when I was much younger but other things, like life, got in the way. And, I like you, dont have a nook. And I am fairly techno savvy, but when I hold a book I am instantly transported. I dont care where, but I go there. Oh and downloading a book to a Kindle will never, ever smell as good as a used book does, not ever :)
Thanks again and I really enjoy your work.

  21. Thanks for following my blog! It is kind of a niche blog and a tad bit bland and informational but I am just getting the ball rolling.

Here soon I am going to check out your work! I am sure I will be able to learn a lot.

    • Thanks for replying. Your blog is pretty cool and I’m sure once you get things set up the way you like them, Things will start taking off. Looking forward to keeping in touch.

  22. Hi Vina – Thanks for the follow! You sound alot like me – theres nothing like a good book!! I don’t write much fiction myself. I only just tried out a short story on my blog the other day. Loved writing it though and I may do more if the muse strikes me! I sorta write my blog posts in stream of consciouness mode about whatever is on my mind at the time. New to blogging, finding my niche. Love your stories – you have a knack for this stuff for sure! Looking forward to more!

Best, Donna aka Momma E. :D

    • Donna,
Thank you for checking my page out. I enjoyed looking trough yours and hope to read more from you. For writing info, check out a writing challenge we just did on my post, Storie Book Challenge. It turned out pretty great. Enjoy!

  23. Hi! Thanks so much for following – really appreciate it! Isn’t amazing how the actions of a teacher back in school still resonate as you get older? I love how they can still inspire as times goes on.

    • Thanks for coming by and as for my page and all I’ve seriously been experimenting with changing colors, layout, etc… thanks for the tip :D
